Celebrating UK Graphic Art From The Harvey Lloyd Archive

Headline sponsors L&S Printing

This month-long exhibition celebrates the vitality of the UK graphic arts scene, explored through five decades of screenprinting history drawn from the archive of Harvey Lloyd. Curated by Owen Gildersleeve, the show brings together leading contemporary figures including Mr Doodle, Mr Bingo, Orla Kiely, Anthony Burrill, Supermundane, Sarah Boris and Seb Lester, alongside many other archive works and newly commissioned limited-edition prints.

Alongside these established names, Grand Matter will introduce a select group of emerging artists, placing new talent in direct dialogue with industry heavyweights and reinforcing Harvey Lloyd’s role in supporting the next generation.

Delivered in collaboration with Look Again, the month-long exhibition is supported by a live programme of drawing performances, talks and workshops — positioning the project as both a celebration of legacy and a platform for future creative growth.

AN OBSCURE CAMERA

INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION

ATRIUM

Jun 26, 27, 28

10am – 4pm Fri – Sat | 10am – 3pm Sun

Free

Come down to the Marine Workshops to experience a modern day take on the Camera Obscura. This playful interactive work responds to your actions as you move within the gallery space, controlling and affecting the live view outside of the building. Evoking aspects of contemporary surveillance culture, An Obscure Camera by Flexer & Sandiland gives us the power to explore the surrounding landscape of Marine Workshop. In doing so, we navigate the fine line between observer and voyeur, physically enacting the choices made by the countless algorithms that analyse our daily lives.

As part of the work Flexer & Sandiland will be staging a community performance-intervention on Saturday 27 June to be experienced through the installation.

See a video of the installation, previously at Towner, here, and learn more about Flexer & Sandiland here.

RHODA ROCKS!

FUNDRAISING COMMUNITY PARTY

THE SIDINGS COURTYARD

Aug 8, Saturday

4.00pm – 10.00pm

£5 (under 5s go free. all ticket proceeds to Martlets Hospice.) Buy tickets here

You’re invited to join Hospitable Environment for a family-friendly summer celebration in memory of Rhoda Funnell at the Sidings this August

A much-missed Mum, wife, granny, friend, and pillar of the creative community, Rhoda would usually be busy planning her own end-of-summer party, as well as her brilliant Artwave open house at this time of year. She will be missed in so many ways, but we look forward to sharing memories and celebrating her life in the most fitting way we could think of – by raising a glass of fizz and having a massive Disco (Rhoda was a very proud Essex Girl who really loved to dance).

The 2026 Artwave Brochure will be launched at the event, and you’ll get a chance to see the full 2026 line-up for the first time and to celebrate the 33rd festival with the brilliant and growing creative community. Rhoda and Christian opened their house for Artwave for more than 20 years, and showcased the work of many hundreds of makers over that time. Theirs was a must-see venue for many festival-goers, and The Old Forge will be sorely missed by Artwave this year.

Come and enjoy the riverside, share your memories and raise a glass to Rhoda.

This is a fundraising event, whose running costs have been supported by Hospitable Environment, Look Again and the BN9 Programme at Towner. All ticket proceeds will be donated to the Martlets Hospice, whose community nurses enabled Rhoda to be cared for at home, surrounded by her family and friends.

Running order:

4.00 – 6.00 – Facepainting and glitter tattoos to get in the party mood.

4.30 – 5.30 – Limber up and learn a dance routine with Bam Bam!

6.00 – 10.00 – DJ’s and dancing with old school disco into the night.

Pizza and craft beers will be available to purchase from Abyss, as well as a Fizz Bar and family-friendly food.

Children of all ages are very welcome and remain the responsibility of their parents/carers at all times. They are permitted in the festival area at all times, but parents/carers are asked to keep children out of the bar area after 8pm.
