Business Benefits

Opportunities for bespoke development, business rate relief and no pre-application charges for planning enquiries

Unlike other towns, Newhaven has substantial capacity for business growth. Building on the town’s natural assets and strong transport connections, Newhaven is fast-becoming home to a growing and diverse economy focussed on innovative, high-value growth sectors.

Over the next 25 years, the Enterprise Zone will create around 55,000m2 of new commercial floor space for employment use. There is a committed Avis Way and North Quay Business Forum with an active membership of 30 businesses who meet regularly to discuss and resolve issues within the estate to ensure that there is a thriving business community that supports Newhaven’s wider aspirations. The Enterprise Zone plans to help establish more business groups like this to support the town’s thriving enterprises.

A local community with global ambition

Newhaven is home to a number of international businesses that are leading in innovation across the plastic, renewables, design and food sectors. With access to a highly-engaged business network, the town is emerging as a hub for ambitious businesses.

As well as significant business development, there is also planned investment for housing in the town, the expansion of Newhaven Port and plans underway to re-develop the town centre.

“I want to create a unique space that brings together the whole community and which gives me the opportunity to collaborate with other local businesses. Starting my business in Newhaven gives me the chance to create something I feel passionately about, whilst leaning on the support available for me as a small business.”
