Grants available from Newhaven EZ Community Fund
Posted on 23/12/2020
Charities and not-for-profit organisations which benefit the Newhaven area are urged to apply for grants from the Newhaven EZ Community Fund.
The fund offers grants of up to £5,000 and applications are encouraged from projects that foster innovation in community participation, address inequality, raise aspirations and develop opportunities for people in the town to be more actively engaged.
Corinne Day, Programme Director of Newhaven Enterprise Zone, said: “Earlier this year we launched Newhaven’s story, a collaborative piece of work that highlights Newhaven’s fantastic juxtaposition of marine, coastline, countryside and industry. The story will inform initiatives, developments and plans for the town and we hope that applications for the fund will also celebrate the town’s vibrant, thriving community and build on Newhaven’s story.
“Some brilliant charities and not-for-profit organisations have benefitted from the fund including Newhaven Families Forum, the World Cetacean Alliance which supports marine wildlife and Newhaven Young People’s Forum who used the grant for the delivery of an access for all sanitary product scheme called The Period Project. If you’re a not-for-profit organisation or charity, please I urge you to apply.”
Applications can be made through the Sussex Community Foundation’s website and the deadline is Friday 8 January 2021.
The fund aims to increase community collaboration and participation, create opportunities for training, education, employment and enterprise and improve the quality of the local environment.

Stephen Chamberlain, Head of Philanthropy at the Sussex Community Foundation, added: “Over the last two years the Newhaven EZ Community Fund has supported some brilliant organisations that have made a tangible difference to the lives of local people. It is always wonderful to learn more about how the money has been spent and we look forward to seeing January’s raft of applications.”
